AAA Fake Crown Mark Never produced by CW

This mark features on a huge number of fake and forged items claiming to be Carlton Ware. Although it is by no means the only mark used. The Crown mark was superceded by the script mark in 1926, and Carlton Ware did not become a limited company until 1958. Therefore this combination of Crown mark and LTD is totally wrong.
Alligator Sugar Bowl Fake

Original

Fake
Here we have another example of an item, probably made from an original mould but which are now falsly being reproduced as Carlton Ware. the poor quality of the decoration is an instant givaway.
Alligator Toast Rack Fake

Original

Fake
In the 1980s Carlton Ware produced a range of wares modelled on an Alligator. It seems that the original moulds are now in unscrupulous hands and that fakes are beginning to surface.

The bright orange alligator carries the early Crown mark, which was of course long out of use when these reptiles, original or fakes, were produced. The orange colour was never used by Carlton for this range.

A pale green original with its correct Cooper Black mark is shown for comparison.

Apple Teapot Fake

Fake
Carlton Ware did make an Apple Teapot during the 1970’s. However it was not this one.

The original is shown in the left hand picture.
